Medellín Colombia nightlife: the best places to have a great time

Medellín boasts a nightlife that can easily compete with the world’s most renowned party hotspots. Discover the best places to go!

5 Minutes

Medellín has emerged as one of South America’s most vibrant and dynamic cities. With a nightlife scene that can rival some of the world’s most famous party destinations, Medellín has nothing to envy those places.

Often overshadowed by its tough history, this city has transformed into a hub of culture. Entertainment and electrifying nightlife are a must in this city. And they are easy to reach once you start your tour around its urban life. So, if you’re looking for an unforgettable night out, Medellín has a lot to offer.

In this article, we will take you on a journey through the best places to experience Medellín, Colombia’s nightlife. We offer you these recommendations as Colombians with one single desire in our hearts: for you to get the best impression out of this exciting city. So, let’s get it started!

Parque Lleras

Parque Lleras is the epicenter of Medellín’s nightlife. It’s where the party begins and ends for many locals and visitors too. This bustling district is in the upscale neighborhood of El Poblado

In this area, you can find many bars, clubs, restaurants, and cafes. Whether you want to taste delicious Colombian cuisine or dance the night away, Parque Lleras has something for everyone

If you want to party, or rumbear, as we say, there are different options where to have a night on the tiles. Rooftops are quite popular these days, they are excellent for having a good time with music and dance. All while you chill on a terrace where you can appreciate the incredible views of the city.

If this calls your attention, we recommend Envy Rooftop, located on the terrace of The Charlee Hotel. This place has been well-reviewed by lots of local and foreign visitors. It is a bit expensive, though, so if you are on a budget it is probably not your best shot. Also, they have a dress code, so a sensible idea will be not to go too casual (shorts and sandals, for example).

But if you are not into those demands and you want something simpler (and cheaper) another option could be Los Rooftops By Los Patios. Cocktails, live DJ, and an atmosphere full of good vibes. Sounds like a charm, doesn’t it?

Now, if hitting the nightclub is what is calling you, we have some good news: Medellín is known for the best party venues. Enjoy la rumba in Medellín at La Octava. This Instagrammable place has the perfect balance of good music, great shots, and reasonable prices. Club Perro Negro is another good one, loved by the locals. There you can get an electrifying clubbing experience where the music pumps until the early hours.

El Poblado

El Poblado is more than just the Parque Lleras. This upscale neighborhood has a variety of nightlife options. For those who prefer a more relaxed evening, there are many cozy bars and restaurants around. These offer a perfect setting for a delightful night with friends.

At Ritwal Mesa Y Mística you can enjoy a panoramic view of Medellín while you have one of the best meals of your life. And for those sushi lovers, we have a hidden gem. At Kuro Sake and Sushi Rooftop, you can enjoy a nice fusion of tasty food and a tranquil ambiance.

Calle 70

If you’re into salsa and other Latin rhythms, Calle 70 is the place to be. This vibrant street is located in the Laureles neighborhood. Dotted with bars and clubs, here you can dance the real salsa. Places like Son Havana and Mulenze Salsa Bar offer live music. Their dance floors are a welcoming atmosphere for both beginners and experienced dancers. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself immersed in the joyful rhythms of salsa, cumbia, and vallenato until the sun comes up.

Theatrical Experiences

Medellín isn’t all about dance floors and pulsating music. In Medellín, you can also find some unique theatrical experiences. Check out Teatro Pablo Tobón Uribe, where you can catch a nice play, a musical performance, or an art exhibition. El Teatrico is a popular spot too, a space where you can watch short plays in small, intimate settings and enjoy a nice meal afterward.

There you got. It doesn’t matter whether you are a party animal or a person who enjoys cultural displays. If you are a salsa enthusiast, or someone looking for an authentic Colombian experience.  Medellín has something for everyone. So, there are no excuses for staying in while visiting La Ciudad de las Flores.

Our final recommendations? Put on your dancing shoes or grab a cocktail, and lose yourself to Medellín nightlife. It will show you why it is a must-visit destination for those who want to have a great time.
